Outdoors Projects

Here are some of the Outdoorsy projects I have in progress, intend to complete or have completed.

In Progress

Bushcraft and Survival skills – Just ongoing.

First Aid Just keep up with First Aid – read the books I have and do courses.

Mountain Leaders Award – keep log book up-to-date – find some more mountains to climb!

Equipment to Aquire

Cast iron pan or kettle and a tripod. Stove for canvas tent/teepee. A satellite phone or at least an SOS pager.

Ready to Start

Notchstick – make a Mors Kochanski notch stick

Chesterfield Canal – Walk the entire length (46 miles) in either a long day or with an overnight.

Walk coast to coast – I want to follow Wainwright’s guide. It’s 4 weeks out (with sightseeing).

Learn to use slingshot – once I have a good aim, need to know about hunting seasons/laws.


Camping and hiking in Canada (likely 2022)

Long distance path in US or Europe.

PADI Advanced Open Water – somewhere nice.

Paragliding – just need to start off by joining a club in the Peak.

Aurora Borealis – see this. Tie in with visit to Shetland isles or ice hotel/log cabin in Norway.

China and India – deferred because requires extended stay.


Climb Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike (done by 2021)

Visit the Amazon rainforest (done 2010)

Learn to Ski (done 2014)

Learn to dive (PADI) (done 2015)

Learn to shoot a rifle/shotgun (done 2013)
